Tracy Arm cruise, Juneau |
We recommend that you start with an Inside Passage cruise, either by small ship or by ferry. CruiseWest, probably the finest tour operator in Alaska, operates boats with a capacity of not more than 100 persons and always leaves time for investigating a pod of whales or a bear sighting. This is not a cruise ship as one would generally think. There is a commitment to show Alaska in an informative and friendly atmosphere. Dress is casual -- even blue jeans are always acceptable. You can be assured that they will show you the best of Alaska! The Alaska Ferry is an excellent, inexpensive option for cruising the Inside Passage. Not only will you have the opportunity to meet some locals (this is our "highway" between the Inside Passage communities) but you will also have the flexibility to makes stops in each port. If time is of the essence, consider an air tour: fly to Ketchikan, Sitka, Juneau. Add some day cruises and sidetrips to round out your tour. Here are some of our favorites: |
