Alaska's Inside Passage

We recommend that you start with an Inside Passage cruise, either by small ship or by ferry.

The Alaska Ferry is an excellent, inexpensive option for cruising the Inside Passage. Not only will you have the opportunity to meet some locals (this is our "highway" between the Inside Passage communities) but you will also have the flexibility to makes stops in each port.

For the more adventureous, try a small ship expedition cruise with InnerSea Discoveries. This 49 passenger ship is equipped with zodiaks and kayaks to allow you the ultimate up-close look at Alaska.

If time is of the essence, consider an air tour: fly to Ketchikan, Sitka, Juneau. Add some day cruises and sidetrips to round out your tour. Here are some of our favorites:

Hideaway in Haines

Get away from it all and spend some time in undiscovered, spectacular Haines.

Haines offers a variety of activities including bear viewing, river rafting, fishing, golfing, kayaking, hiking, flightseeing, and more.  Gateway to Glacier Bay!

White Pass & Yukon Rail, Skagway

Take a historic train ride up the spectacular White Pass, following the route of the gold miners. Incredible scenery, excellent narration.

Anan Bear Observatory, Wrangell

A short boat ride and a 30 minute walk over uneven terrain to the bear viewing platforms. Mid-June to mid-August is prime bear viewing time.

Helicopter/Dog Sled Adventure, Juneau or Skagway.

Take a spectacular helicopter flight to the top of a glacier where a 1/2 hr. dog sled ride awaits you.

Tracy Arm cruise, Juneau

A narrow, twisting, turning fjord with spectacular scenery, wildlife, icebergs and glaciers. This rivals Glacier Bay!

 Zipline Adventures, Ketchikan or Juneau

Imagine the thrill of gliding through the top of a rich rainforest canopy along a series of eight dual cable zip lines and navigating three aerial bridges suspended between tall spruce, hemlock and cedar trees, bordering the magnificent Tongass National Forest. An incredible experience!
